February is Black History Month and 2026 officially marks the celebration’s 100ᵗʰ year. The Association for the Study of African American Life and History first held a week-long celebration during the second week of February in 1926. Then in 1976, President Gerald Ford expanded the time frame by officially recognizing Black History Month.
